The Game.

Every year we get a family game, and stick it under our Christmas Tree.

This year we bought Killer Bunnies.

After reading two books of instructions we began playing.

Wondering "What the Heck..."

We finished the first game, and were:

HOPELESSLY ADDICTED!!

We have now pulled several friends into our strange addiction.

We have played every weekend --

We played Friday night with family friends.

We played Sunday evening with more friends,

and a bunch of Teenie boppers.

We played last night with a two small families.

We laugh until we cry.

We eat too many good treats.

We are now scheduling appointments ;D

One of my good friends has ordered her own game,

we have plans.

Two games going at once perhaps.

Changing tables if a certain number is rolled...

I love a good game.

I LOVE hanging out with excellent people even more :)

I'm back in the office after taking a few weeks off to be at home with

my Girlies -- my number #1 {and most favorite} job!

A few months ago I did some research on top water bottles.

And found this treasure. I ordered myself one and

FELL IN LOVE! {I just sang the last three words}

I love my Camelbak!

I drink SO much more water!

I love it so much that I got

my whole family their own for Christmas.

They all love their Camelbak.

My kids are drinking so much more water! Yay!!

Guess who came in 2nd place at her Elementary Spelling bee?

My Bee-utiful B-bop!

She and the gentleman beside her went several rounds, keeping

everyone on the edge of their seat!

B-bop finally missed the 'n' in lightening!

She said that as soon as she spelled it, she knew she left out the 'n'.

We are so proud of her.

She gets to compete in two weeks at our County Spelling Bee :}

I'm trying to savor this Christmas season.

I think I will blink my eyes and these girls of ours will be grown and gone.

Every year we have a Family Home Evening/Tree trimming party.

This year I had it all ready...the treats...the decorations....and realized I had forgot the tree lights! No decorations can go on until the lights are in place! So we had our treats, and put off decorating. Then I forgot and forgot some more to get the lights.

Finally, the tree is lit and quite pretty!

I threw out my big tree last year. It had survived FIFTEEN Christmases!

We are using a smaller tree, hoping to score a good 'after Christmas clearance deal' on a new one.

I really love the month of December!

Last Night B-bop performed in her

4th grade musical: ANNIE

She was not ANNIE.

I had a dream last night:

I was riding with a very classy senior woman.

We were in her Cadillac.

She stepped on the accelerator,

heading right into the LAKE!!

I screamed a happy scream---

"THIS HAD BETTER BE A BOAT CAR!"

And it was!!

What a rush.

Hee-Hee.

Strange things go on in this mind of mine.

Last week I dreamed my family was "squatting" in a home.

The owner walked in and it was:

"Why are you all squatting in my home?"

SQUAT: to settle on or occupy property, especially otherwise

unoccupied property, without any title, right, or payment ofrent.

{Just thought I'd share the definition...in case you were forming a

different type of squat visual in your mind...hem}

So much is going on in me life! I don't even know where to start!

I'm working at my husbands office.

I just launched an attempt at a little business PHĀE-TOGRAPHY.

All my girlies will have birthday's in the next month and a half.

After school programs.

Church responsibilities.

And so on, and so on.

I LOVE IT ALL!

I am happy to be healthy and able to keep up!

Family Night

For Family Night we went out for frozen yogurt.

Every Monday night we have FAMILY NIGHT!

No phones, no computers, no TV...just the SIX of us doing

something together. Anything from playing a board game to going bowling.

The girls love it and we do too :)

I had my nine year old daughter dump out here way too messy backpack the other day. While she was at school, I went through the mess. At the very bottom, I found this letter.

Mother,

If I get a million dollars, I'll spend it all on you. I could get you a new and better phone, because you would enjoy it. When you are away, my heart is empty and cold. You are more lovely than all the stars in the sky. You're the best person I know, without you I would die. The soft words I remember "You'll be a great Author" always ring in my head. "The best day with you" by Taylor Swift, always makes me think of you. The best thing you cook is three cheese tortellini. It tastes like Italian heaven. It is better than chocolate cake! The stories you tell me make me laugh like a hyena. If I were to live without you I'd be sooooo...ooo.oooo...cold hearted {That is a joke, it is my favorite song by Zac Brown Band} Mother you make my life feel like my best dream. Trash Talk

Very early this morning I got a text from Sam:

"I forgot to put the trash out"

NOPE.

I'm not doing it.

It is freezing out there.

My bed is cozy and warm.

The girls are outta school today.

I have every reason to STAY IN BED!

So, I did just that, stayed in bed.

Then I had dreams that I was pulling the trash to the curb.

In one dream, I was wearing shorts and it was summer.

I said to myself, this is a dream.

In another there were about 20 school buses on my street while

I was pulling the trash to the curb.

Again, I realized I was dreaming.

In another I tripped in the garage, it woke me up.

Enough with the guilt!

Sporting a huge hoodie, pajama pants, crazy hair,

my daughters Uggs...out I went into the snowy morning.

I still felt like I was in a dream, a bad dream...

I missed the trash man.

And that Stinks!

Dear Blog,

We had a fabulous Christmas Break. What was my favorite part, you ask? Aside from Christmas morning (I love Christmas morning) it was just hanging out with my family! Uninterrupted time together is great.

I'm am looking forward to this new year. I am beginning a new journey, one that makes me nervous and excited at the same time. I hope to share more soon :)

Guess what?!? I am proud to say that I have lost 13 lbs over the holidays! I haven't done that in my married life, it's always the opposite.

What little I know about people

What little I know about people.

Please remember, I have only been in this

body. This is how I see people.

Oh and remember, I may see it differently tomorrow.

Might I first say:

There are five people in my world

that mean everything to me.

After that I would like to add:

I have some dang good friends in

my everyday.

One more thing:

I generally like people.

* There are people that can calm a hyper soul.

* There are people that look past and see deep.

* There are people that refuse to see at all.

* There are people that live so righteously, they make you wonder if you

will EVER walk and talk like them.

* There are people who are so full of negativity and complaint, that miss

so much simple daily pleasure.

* There are people that stick a label on you, and stick you on a shelf as

being like "that". Refusing to see your growth and change. This fact

crushed me in my twenties, and makes me sadly chuckle a little in my

30's. Can't wait to see how I respond in my 40's.

* There are people who make you laugh so deeply, that it is actually

medication to your heart and soul.

* There are people you will NEVER be good enough for. Don't waste

your time trying. Find a way to love and respect them, but do it

from a distance so you don't get hurt.

* There are people who like to hear themselves talk. And talk. and talk.

Sometimes you roll your eyes and run. Sometimes you are selfless and

let them.

* There are people that want you to see their worldly possessions, and let

them know you have.

* There are people with much wealth and personal possessions, but you

don't notice because of their great countenance.

* There are people with very little, but you don't notice because of their

great countenance.

* There are people that like to pat you on the head and tell you you're cute.

Don't give in to that urge to punch them.

* There are people who have known you your whole life and love you

the deepest. Drink it in, cherish it.

* There are people that notice the petty mistakes you make and are so

caught up in being grumpy about it and their "pet peeves" that they

miss out on the good you possess. Don't let it get to you down for more

than two minutes. Move on.

* There are people you get stuck in a car with that go on and on about

their drama lives. They don't realize that in your mind you are imagining

opening the door and jumping.

* There are people who drink in drama like they have an unquenchable

thirst.

* There are people with real sorrow in their lives. You feel it so deeply

that you wish you could somehow take it from them, but all you can

offer is to listen.

* There are people who really need you to look past their weaknesses,

where perhaps other people do not.

* There are people you truly need in your life, and there are people you

just don't. Make a list, figure out who you really need. Enjoy them.

* People will hurt you.

* People will make you stronger

* People will not notice you.

* People will praise you.

* People will need you.

* People will not need YOU.

* People will see your strengths.

* People will not see your strengths.

* People will make you see yourself.

* People are at times your mirror. Open your eyes and look.

* Don't let people tell you are not worth it.

* There is only one Perfect person who walk this Earth.

{Behind me is the scenic overlook}

On the very top of a local mountain, there is a little swimming pool. It is built right on a scenic overlook of the valley we live in. It is near perfection to me, a little slice of my own paradise. Every Thursday I meet up with a few of my friends, and my friends kiddo's and we swim ALL day. Stopping only for a picnic lunch, and then back into the pool. The pool god's will only let 60 people in, so we make sure and arrive just before it opens. I'll be sad when summer ends, and we go back to our usual pattern of school and life. Compare it to the slight sadness when the Christmas tree comes down after the gifts are open and all the carols are sung.

My life lately

HULLO! Anyone there? Didn't think so.

I can't believe how fast summa is flying by. It's been busy, it's been fun, it's been hot. So very hot and humid lately. We walked with our friends who live on our loop tonight, and were soaked with....yep...sweat when we arrived home! Nice. Or not. I don't like humidity, but I still love me some summer.

Do you really think I'm just going to post about sweat and summer?

Nope.

COWARDS, I could post about cowards!

Nope...not that either.

Family updates? Snooring? So what....

Sam is still tall, and still funny. He is a busy man, I don't see him much during the week. Sorta. It's not too bad, it could be worse. He really enjoys his new found profession, and I love that. You should love what you do. We only get one walk on this earth...why not find ways to enjoy the walk. He still love smokin' some ribs up. And cutting the grass, the guy loves to start up his riding lawn mower. He loves me too. And his girls. He's a pretty good guy.

I am still very much me. I stay pretty busy, I have to make myself take a break and read a book sometimes. Reading is relaxing, don't you think? I have some rockin' friends that I enjoy hanging around. They are so easy to be with, you know? Not a lot of drama and games. Good conversation, plenty of laughing and our kiddo's have fun together. That's the kind of friend I like, that is the kind of friend I want to be.

G-bop is loving her time off from school. Girl needed a break, 6th grade was hard. She did finish out the year with ALL A's. Yipee. She is loving Young Womens. She is taking Karate now, and spends a lot of time playing her guitar. She just spent a week at her cousins home, I'm glad to have her back!!

K-bop has had the busiest summer of all. A lady in our ward had her grandaughter visit for the first part of the summer, and asked if she could borrow K to be her summer friend. Those two girls were two peas in a pod. We couldn't have picked a better match! They did a lot of traveling, sleepovers, swimming and even went to a wilderness day camp. She also has been able to have some sleepovers with her best friend from school. Then went off to Tulsa to spend a week with her cousin, and then her cousin spent a week here! SHEW. Tonight that girl made dinner by herself. LOVE THAT!

B-bop keeps us laughing. What a special girls she is. Not a mean bone in her body. She and her kid sister have been glued together this summer, I can't believe how much two sisters can enjoy each other! She loves our habitual snow cone runs, and swimming. She once had a GREAT fear of water, and this year is her first year swimming in the deep end! She has had some medical problems, and is seeing a specialist. She has been a trooper, and we are seeing real improvements.

R-bop has one thing on her mind....STARTING KINDERGARTEN! She has been watching her sisters go, and it is finally her turn. Watch out, here she comes! There are three K teachers at her elementary, and two are members of our church. I'm really hoping she gets one of them, both are great ladies:)
I love her freckled face. Fun girl...most of the time.

It's moving time again

Unbelievable, I know.

It's time to move again.

I can't say I'm excited.

I can say, I'm a pro at packing.

Fortunately, we will not move the girls

again from their schools or church.

That is a good, good thing.

Time to stay.

We are currently staying in a couples home

who are serving a Mission for our church.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

As I've mentioned before, I have known

this couple since I was Twelve, even had

sleepovers at this very house, with their daughter:)

The Wii has finally landed in our home.

Wii are having a lot of fun with it.

Our favorite game is "Just Dance"

We played it at our friends house the other night.

These are my four daughters.

She is the GRAMMAR POLICE.

She is also my spell check.

Anywhere, at anytime,

I can say, "G, how do you spell..."

whatever it is she can spell it out.

A few nights ago, she and I were

working on her first talk in Sacrament meeting.

I was quite pleased that she was the one

thinking of the content of her talk,

and I was just her typing it out slave.

I heard a lot of this though:

"Mom, that is a run on sentence"

"Mom, put a coma there"

"I'm sorry Mom, I just can't stand it not

being correct"

It didn't hurt my feelings at all.

She wasn't being rude, or disrespectful.

It gave us something to laugh about,

and I am learning that moments of laughing

with a preteen are becoming something to treasure.

My grammar stinks.

This I know.

I am a comma droppin' fool.

I am a comma skippin' fool.

It has made me want to close down my

blog forever, and hide under my sofa.

BUT I WON'T.

I'm going to blog anyway.

I don't mind if my children are stronger, smarter, and wiser

than I am. In fact, I pray they are.

My Mother-in-law once said that she

always hoped her children would grow up

to be better than her.

I understood right away what she meant

by that, and I began hoping the same for

my babies.

I love their strengths.

Now if they disrespect the Mama,

they have to scrub the tires on my Van

with their toothbrushes. That's right, while

it's driving me to Sonic Happy hour.

B-bop has had NO interest in

learning to ride a bike.

She's had quite a fear of CRASHING.

She does not have a fear of wearing Uggs with

jean capris tho...nope, she's good there.

TODAY was her day!

K-bop decided it was time

she jump on that bike and learn to ride.

AND SO SHE DID.....

She got the hang of it pretty QUICK!

AND that was what she did....the rest of the day!

I'm not a city girl.

I like the energy and fun in a city.

I'm not a big town girl.

I'm glad a lot of my husband's family live in a big town.

It's fun to visit.

I'm not a neighborhood girl.

I like good neighbors

I like being close to stores, schools and work.

We have lived and raised our girls in neighborhoods.

I am a country girl.

Not a WAY out in the country girl,

although if a plane flew over and dropped a load of money in

my back yard, I'd buy a getaway cabin WAY out in the country.

O...O...I hear a plane...be right back.

I WOULD, I THINK I WILL

have a home in the semi-country someday.

Because my good husband and I agree on that.

I want to walk out my door and not look at my neighbors

house. I want to walk out and see trees and fields.

Most of my childhood memories are outside.

Slept in, breakfast in bed, ignored kids while watching two hours of Mantracker w/ Sam, imagined out-running Mantracker, decided it'd never happen, showered, went to the office for a little bit w/Sam, had my very first diet Dr Pepper WITH strawberry from Sonic, loved it, went to the store, drove around looking at areas we may like to buy a home at, stopped at a sweet lady from our wards house to pick up Saturdays newspaper that had pictures of K-bop in it, came home, made lunch for the family...no....ate lunch Sam had made for family, cleaned kitchen, made kids tidy up, went to my favorite best kept secret little park with family, walked w/ Sam while two older walked together, while two little played at park and in a creek, home again! Made dinner for my family and for a family who just had a baby, started a load of laundry, sent Sam out for gummi worms so girls could make worm/dirt pudding for the family's older little boy, took dinner over, held sweet new baby girl, had to put her down to return home and put our dinner in the oven, talked on the phone about what I needed to do for tomorrow's funeral lunch for the grandmother of a sister in our ward, dinner is served! Did the dishes...ha,ha...oh no I didn't that's what my kids are for, had family home evening, lost at Sorry, made the girls take showers, sat for a while and played a few games on webkins, decided to write this post, told Sam to yell at the girls to brush their teeth and get jammies on, time for scripture reading and prayer...that is about where I am now.

If you love the month of January, please stop reading now.

I do not like January.

I have no use for it.

Maybe because I was born in the summertime.

It's too cold.

It's mostly gray.

It's too far from the hope of daffodils.

The holiday fun is over.

I am generally a morning person...

I like to get up, make my bed and get on with my day.

NOT IN January though.

I have a hard time getting up when it's cold out.

I don't want to make my bed, just incase

I find a moment to jump back in and hide

until spring.

I have a hard time keeping the house clean

in January.

Give me a beautiful spring or summer day,

with the windows open and some music

and I will give you one pretty clean house.

BUT when it's cold and gray out,

I just can't find the will.

Everyone is dieting in January,

I miss December when everyone was eating.

These are my thoughts on this cold,

dreary month.

I'm going to go make my bed now,

or maybe crawl back in.

I never wanted to be the mom that babied her youngest born.

Treat 'em all the same, I thought.

HA!

We think before we have them, of how it's "going" to be.

We are certain we are right when the first one comes along.

A few babies and years later, we know for certain:

1. We knew nothing.

2. Each one is it's own package, without instructions

3. Each one comes with an endless evolution of learning.

4. A full nights sleep is never a %100 guarantee, until they move out.

5. You will probably baby your youngest, because...

Your youngest is like a snap shot of all of your children.
A little package of a time that is ending.
The little feet, will soon be big and stink.

My youngest is getting ready for
bigger and better things,
and I'll enjoy watching her go.

TODAY though, she is small, and funny,
and her feet are still sweet.

And when she wakes up and crawls in my lap to snuggle,
I'm sure I'll hold her a bit too long,
and baby her a bit too much.

And then I'll probably tell her to get the mop
out and work on the kitchen floor, and
something about life not being a free ride, kid.

But probably not.

Disappearing act...

Saturday morning the girls asked what our plans were,
we let them know we were going to work magic on
our front yard.

Magic?

Yes, make all the leaves disappear!

It was quite the chore, but we did it!

Even with all the goofin' off!

I went to see New Moon on Friday night with some good ladies, FUN!
I loved the movie.
There were a few parts that were sooo cheesy I had to laugh, but over
all it was great.

Sunday we had our Thanksgiving "Linger Longer" after church.
I can't believe how big our ward is getting!
It was small when we left three years ago.
It's great to see growth, it's great seeing the Gospel bless so many

I have been soooo busy lately, the days are flying by.
All the Birthday's in our family are finally over,
and here come the holidays!

I am hosting Thanksgiving for the first time this year,
so I'm in charge of the BIG Turkey roastin'.
I feel a little intimidated, especially after my little
brother suggested, "Uh, you might want to practice that first"
He is a great cook, and has been on Turkey duty in the past.

I took his advice, and yesterday invited some good friends over
for a trial turkey lunch after church, dutifully dubbed,
"Friendsgiving"

We had about 11 adults and a billion kids show up,
with wonderfully good side dishes and desserts.

It was a SUCCESS! The turkey was delish!

I know I'm a big sentimental cheese puff,
but I LOVE being among good friends.

Bring on the holiday's I'm ready!

FALL!

Last Friday the girls were out of school,
so we took a fall foliage drive.
It was so beautiful, as fall is.

This is on top of a mountain that over looks the
Valley we live in.

The girls had a lot of fun spotting familiar
places and landmarks.

I love uninterrupted time with my family.
LOVE IT!

*Side note: We recently found out that B-bop (our newly eight
year old) has some medical issues. She has been chronically
sick, out of school, and visiting the doctor a lot.
It's not life threatening, but it is serious
and could take quite some time to heal and take care of.
Please keep her in your prayers.
She is such an amazing girl and
quite the trooper.

I dusted off the sewing machine this week...

...and made some new pillows for my couch.
I love birds, this fabric is silly and makes
me hAppY.

I have been doing a little decorating...

I have stopped at all my favorite thrift stores...

...I love these guys, yes they do make me happy.

I've been enjoying this back porch, with the beautiful
fall weather beginning.

The girls are always outside, playing in the yard.
Riding scooters and bikes with the neighbor kids.

We are getting settled,
and it feels great to be home.

I've had so much fun hanging out
with all my good friends.

Sam is already having success at work.
We are grateful.

The morning of September 11 2009 is a good morning.
We have just settled into our new home.
It is the home of a couple serving a full time mission.
I have known them since I was in Primary, and
even had sleepovers in this house when I was a young girl.

The neighbors are so friendly and quickly came and
introduced themselves. One even brought homemade
bread over this morning.

While waiting for this house to become vacant,
we were able to stay with a couple that I have
known my entire life.
We are grateful for their hospitality and help
getting us here, so we could get the
girls in school.

The girls are adjusting well to school.
K-bop and B-bop love their
elementary. I love it because there are
so many members there. Teachers and kids.
We like to call it "BYU-JR"!

G-bop has had a bit of a hard time adjusting to
middle school. She is doing better every day
and just found some friends she knew from
when we lived here before.
She is playing the Clarinet, and loves it.
I'm impressed with how fast she is learning songs!

This is a good Sept 11th.

I will NEVER forget that awful morning
eight years ago, when our world
changed.

I am proud to be an American.

We have started a new chapter, new adventure, and a new huge challenge. We are going back to our home to plant roots, to stop moving our girls around, to carve out a life. This choice is not for everyone, and I'm sure many do not understand. We want it, and are willing to once again take life by the horns. I'm sure we will have plenty of learning and growing along the way. Wish us well!

"Taking our Life by the Horns"

About four years ago my husband and I woke up to the fact that we were in a rut, spinning our wheels in life. Let me first explain in many ways my hubby and I are alike. We are go with the flow kind of people, we take life as it happens. Like a great Jimmy Buffet song... pick one, they almost all fit our laid-back, ahem.. lazy ways.

Back to four years ago. Hubby had tried several different careers (Jen S. if you are reading this...no smart remarks!) every job the same thing, people would get promoted around him that had, well, a degree! We started tossing the idea around of him going back to school and finishing his degree. This was a bit frightening to think of, with three children.

One weekend we drove across the state line and down the road a couple hours to attend my nephews baptism. We were in the beautiful little town I grew up in (Picture below is K-bop and B-bop in that town, I told you it was beautiful) and we both mentioned that it would be nice to live there. Many people bearing their testimonies in our church that day, had just returned from hearing President Hinkley speak at a conference. Several people relayed the story of him saying "take life by the horns", he mentioned it was the Dodge Ram truck slogan and how it could be a powerful message in our own personal lives. Our PERSONAL LIVES needed to hear that, at that very time!

We went home and prayed about two things: Hubby going back to school, and moving our lives to a place we both strongly wanted to be.

Our decision was made, we were going to move.

We began WORKING toward those goals, and amazing things have happened in our lives. We have grown so much, and are still growing.

*BRAG ALERT* Hubby made Dean's list every semester in undergrad, while working full time and holding a challenging calling at church. When he was home he was focused on his family, basically he worked hard and played hard. He seldom complained.

Then one day he came home and said "I want to apply for law school"! The reaction and feelings I had at that moment are another post for another day! I am glad he is in law school now, it fits him like a glove. I've learned not to dwell on what we don't have (except that washer and dryer) or what we might have, but focus on today. Our fun loving family, our good friends, food, and food too. I'm back on WW and hungry.

We have together learned that what we put in to something is what we get out, and we have to do what is not easy to grow. This is my learning experience in growing.
With all this growing I'm still only 5'2.

Who ever thought I'd put Jimmy Buffet and President Hinkley in the same post anyways? I need to get some rest.

Oh, and we are trying to teach our girls to say in a very southern, Scarlett O'Hara way: "My daddy's gonna be a lawyuh". B-bop(5) has it down, the others just look at us in that "we got you for parents?" sorta way. We just look back at them with a "you've got a snotty nose, kid" kinda way. Okay, I'm outta here. Bye.

I love a good Yard sale.
In fact, my girls have been
known to call me the
Garage Sale Queen.

My girls have picked up the obsession,
and love to tag along.

Here are a few things I teach 'em about
the GREAT yard sales:

Pricing:

If I walk up and all the clothes are priced
$5 to $10 dollars, I pretty much
walk away. I'm convinced everything
else will be overpriced too.

That is what I'm willing to pay at a thrift store,
but NOT a yard sale.
That's just me, if someone else wants to... please do.

I know I can find good quality, good condition clothing
for under that price down the road.
AND I do.

If the clothes smell like smoke, see ya!

Clothes in a pile
on the ground...uggg.
Don't.
I don't want to dig through the pile.

PRICES on items are my friend.
If you don't want to tag every item,
at least give me an idea.
I will ask, but don't want to ask on
EVERY THING I'm interested in.
I WILL buy more things if I see a price...I know me.

I do have a love for yard sales with everything tagged,
it makes me happy all over.
When I have my own yard sale, I tag it all for you.

"Yellow"yard sales are gross.
That is a yard sale someone has every weekend of the
year. All the stuff looks yellow.

That's a little of my yard sale advice.

I wish the girls weren't with me,
it would have been a great birthday gift!
(I am not above giving a yard sale finds as a gift to my girls,

I could make some $$ if I sold her on Ebay.
But I won't 'cause K-bop loves her dearly and has named her Annabelle!

Going Old School to save a few $'s

I did it.

I...well, Sam and I made laundry detergent from a recipe.
First let me tell you that I am Tide and Cheer's biggest fan.
That is all I use...EVER.

Until today.

I saw this recipe at The Duggar's website, and for many months have thought about
giving it a try. They claim $2 for 180 loads of laundry. I like the sound of that, but
I worried about the odor and how clean the clothes would really be.
THEN I was reading comments on a blog from (Tide using) women who have tried this
very recipe and love it.

So I ordered my Fels Napa bar, because I couldn't find it in any local stores.
I bought my washing soda, borax, a 5 gallon bucket, and a funnel. Then (last night) me and
Sam made the brew.

We have enough ingredients to make 30 gallons of this stuff, and really spent
very little considering what I drop on one container of Tide.

If the following things work out, we will stay with this and save $:

The odor: So far not bad, very mild once completely diluted.
Cleanliness: Do not know, will find out soon.
Skin irritations: This one I'll be watching closely for, if anyone gets a rash...it's a NO GO!

*Today's review*
1st I skeptically put in a mean, stinky load. It came out of the washer smelling odorless...no soap smell, no unclean smell...just fresh and clean and odorless. It came out of my dryer smelling like my fabric sheet...nice. I even stuck the clothes in Sam's face when he came home for lunch...he liked.

I like vacations.
I like having NO schedule.
I like flip flops.
I like the smell of sun block.
I like sitting on a blanket watching fireworks
explode in the sky, and being glad I am
in this free country.

and I LIKE a good parade!

That is were we found ourselves today! Sitting in a shady spot, watching a parade go by.

Santa even likes summer,
we know because we spotted him
on his favorite horse.

Freckles and cotton candy,

I like a place where the unusual fits right in.

Do you know why?

Yes, she is my first born.

BUT, the reason I like this face is because it is free
from the make-up that will soon cover it.

It's the face that is not yet in puppy love with
some silly boy.

It is free from worry over jobs,
and budgets, and schedules
and life.

Not the face of a baby, or even a young girl.

It's the face just before she becomes a young women.

And I like it.

We've had some very ~~exciting~~ scary weather around here for June. Freak storms, strange cloud formations, and one evening after a storm we had the most beautiful (eerie) sky. Every thing was a burnt orange glow, and across the sky was a double rainbow, with lightening streaking through it. I've NEVER seen anything like it. I wish I had clicked a pic of it.

Is it the end of time?
Is it Global warming?
Is it just the Earth doing it's thing?

I can't answer that, my brain came from a thrift store.

What I can do is enjoy it. This earth is beautiful and amazing, how dare I not notice.

I can also tell a funny on my dear sister in law.

She has only lived in Arkansas for a year. She is a little nervous with the Tornado warnings we've been having.

Last week she noticed the sky growing dark in the middle of the day, and the winds picking up. She then heard the ominous tornado warning siren.

What do you think she did next?

a) Opened all her windows, and anticipated meeting munchkins
b) Got to a safe place in her house, away from windows
c) Ran across the street to her neighbor, to ask if that was tornado a siren

You are a smart one, I believe you guessed it!

C) She ran to her neighbors house.

Ha,ha,ha!

I'm not sure why that is so funny to me, but it is. It still cracks me up. I am easily amused....hmm.

Anyway, don't do that...if you are ever in the path of a storm. DON'T DO THAT.

Just so you know, I can make fun of her if I want. I can.

She has PLENTY on me!

My two early birds woke me up.
Made Cream of Wheat.
Woke the two girls
that like to sleep all day.

Sat on the computer for a while,
daring myself to get somethings done.
Gutted half of my room,
did a little reorganizing.

Laundry, as always.
Made girls fold and put clean clothes away
Made girls do some house work.

Sam came home for lunch,
had sandwiches.
Sam went back to work.

Went to Target.

Home again

Sam's home.

Dinner.

Girls played in our little pool.

Sam mowed the lawn.

Went to the park, as the sun went down.

I love summer!
Especially early summer.
Hot, humid August in the somewhat south...
not so much.

Here is G-bop on her last day of school,
graduating from the fifth grade...

That medal around her neck is the medal for
Most Amazing Artist in Fifth Grade!
That is how her art teacher announced it,
"Not only does this girl have a great attitude,
she is also the most amazing artist in fifth grade"
Cute.
She is a very talented artist. I am often...well...
amazed how she can turn a blank paper into
something "wow" in such a short amount of time.

Sometimes I feel a tinge of guilt for not having her involved
in a multitude of after school activities like a lot of
other children are. It is one of the things we have sacrificed
to get Sam through school, and for me to be home...
It's great to see talent, and confidence still develop in her,
and in each of my girls.
AND we look forward to jumping into
a few of those activities soon!

We played a crazy traveling game on the way that
started with K-bop getting 10 points for every cow she saw.
G-bop took away 10 of K's points for every horse she saw.
Then more rules kept adding on:
If G saw roadkill -20 for K
If K saw a red vehicle +10
If Mom saw a tractor K and G had to sing, "Old McDonald"
(Dad added that one and they were not lovin')
If Dad saw a school bus he had to sing "Yankee Doodle"
If K saw a mullet she'd get 1000 points
If G saw an RV -10 for K
The closer we came to Branson, it became an all
red car/RV war.
(Branson is the RV capitol of the world, I think)
The stakes were high...
If K had 100 points when we arrived she
could choose to ride the big coaster.
If not she had to ride it.
Also, if K had 100 points or more,
G had to ride the Elephant ride, and pretend she loved it.

Blogging doesn't come as easy as it used to.
I haven't followed up on
my hair vs. no hair

It looks like hair won,
but it was close!

He is sticking with NO hair for now.

Sam is finally finished with school...
forever.

I take that back, he has to take THE BAR in July.
He will not be able to start practicing law until
October.

A lot will be changing for us this summer.
I wish I could peek into the future,
and see exactly how and what.

We do have a pretty good idea.

I am almost %100 healthy.
Just one thing that I am dealing with.
It comes with daily pain,
but it's manageable.

The doctor is running a few tests, hopefully all will be well:)

My Sob Story

I want to get this out,
and then I want to get on with my day!
Bare with me, if you want.

It's been a very long difficult month.

It started with bronchitis.
Because I was getting worse and not better
the Doctor did a chest x-ray
and it turned out to be Pneumonia.

I was put on a VERY strong antibiotic.
Because of it, I developed a mild (painful)
esophagitis .

After three or so weeks of no energy, laying on the couch and in bed
I started to get my energy back...hooray.

I was still having major stomach pain, etc
The Doctor's office called me and said my blood work
came back and I have a stomach bacteria and am now
on mild antibiotics and ulcer medication.

and that is the basically my sob story.

I've never been so sick, that I can remember.
It stinks.

I am feeling better, and better is GREAT:)

I've learned a lot about myself through this trial.
Some good, some not so good.

I've been at the mercy of others and that has been
difficult. I've always had a hard time asking for help.

I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saint.

I am grateful for my Home teachers, for my Relief Society President and
for the Compassionate service sister.
They magnify their callings, and I hope they will
call me whenever someone needs a meal, or help
in anyway.

I didn't think I could love my husband any more than
I already do.
I can.

He took over so much of the household responsibilities.
He let me whine and feel sorry for myself.
He was my coach,helping me get through this
one day at a time.

My daughters have been amazing as well.
I have been sent four of the best.

A few weeks back I was having a very bad evening,
Sam was working all night and would not be home until
four in the morning. I was a little nervous about being
home alone with the girls. Okay, a lot nervous.
My brother, his wife and kids came to my rescue...without being asked.

They came, camped out in my living room,
sent me to bed,
cleaned my house,
did my laundry.
They stayed until Sam came home.

Words cannot express my gratitude.

My parents have been so helpful too.
My sister in Wyoming has been
daily phone support.

I love my family!

Okay, okay... enough sappy;) This is just me counting my blessings,

Just sittin' around playing on the computer with my 4yr old in my arms. Sam and the girls are watching Wall-E. No thanks.

We had sandwiches for lunch after church, with tomatoes and cucumbers. Yum.

I want to build a raised garden, it's time to till the dirt. I'm not going to, because we will most likely move this summer.

So I'll frequent the local farmers market for my fresh produce...soon. I love spring and summer. I love vine ripe tomatoes, and old-time farmers in overalls.

I'm going to begin sewing the girl's Easter skirts this week. I'm using bright spring fabrics, with floral and perhaps fruit prints.

If I wish REAL hard, do you think today's beautiful weather will stay? Enough with the cold stuff.

This is my blog, it is much like my brain.

I've been around my Dad enough to know that
he takes care of himself.
He has diabetes, and he is more self-disciplined
with his eating than a lot of people I know. (me)
Yes, he will need to do better after he recovers from
this surgery.

I need to do better.
I'm going to keep it real here.
I love this woman's cooking:

I'd rather be snuggled up on her sofa,
eating her food...listening to her
funny antics
Than with a room full of skinny, fit women.

There is some truth for ya.
Please don't get me wrong,
I admire skinny, fit women.
I have some dear friends
that are exactly that.
They have found an inner strength,
that I have not.

I'm just saying on any given day,
who I'd rather be with.

So I think of my own arteries.
I want them to be healthier.

Smart me knows what it takes.
Naughty me tells me I could get healthy,
and get hit by a train the next day.
(Again, my brain...)

Last week I had bronchitis, still do.
My girls had a very mean stomach bug.

On Friday I only had one girlie home,
and I was feeling up to a trip to the Mall.

It's something we do on cold days.
Inside park.
Inside restaurants.
Sipping on fruit smoothies,
watching people.

Right.
You've been there.
You know how the Mall thing works.

So I'm about to walk out the door,
the phone rings...
...it's my Dad.
He is in the hospital,
it is an emergency.
Our day changed in a hurry.

Turns out he will undergo
a quadruple bypass surgery,
sometime this week.

I spent the weekend in
a waiting room
with my
siblings and their spouses,
and
my worried Mom.

Very emotionally draining.
It's a lot of news to take in.

There is much hope,
and we have already seen the
power of Prayer.

One cannot be too serious with kids like these around:

I wish I had something FABULOUS to post about. I don't.

That statement just reminded me of something....

A few weeks ago my family and I were shopping some Great clearance racks at the Mall. My oldest daughter (G-bop) and I were waiting to checkout, and couldn't help but giggle at the teenagers behind the register.

1st stylin, bang swooshed teen (grabbing a wallet), "Look at this wallet, it's FABulous!"

2nd stylin, bang swooshed teen, "Yeah, it's sooo UNDERSTaTEd"

G-bob whispered, "Is that how all teenagers talk"

Me, "Yep"

We then make our way to the Shoe store, where we find Daddy trying on shoes.

Daddy, "How do you like these?"

Me (In my best teenage voice), "They are FABulous!"

G-bop, "Yeah, they are so UNDERSTaTED"

Looks like my post turned out FABulous! after all.

I got the same duck, wrapped beautifully, for Christmas. I then secretly put it in her van at Christmas, and when we arrived home....it was on our doorstep. I still have it.)

My sister, Moe!

Her name is actually Ramona,
but I've called her Moe for years.
My girls only know her as Aunt Moe.

Before we get started, I'd like to tell you
a little of my family history...

"Moe" and I have different Moms
Say what?

If you want to go even more Brady Bunch,
My two older brothers and Sister have
a different Bio (never in their life) father.

Let's try it this way...
When my Dad and Mom met, my MOM had
three children. Boy, Girl, Boy.

They married and then had ME.
Five Years later they had
My little brother.

5 kids

So... Boy, Girl, Boy have always been in my life.
I used to get sooo mad if anyone said they were
my half siblings.

Back to Moe...

When I was Eight years old, I found out
I had another sister. Three years older than me.
A gift from my Dad's former life, we will say:)

She would come to visit us in the summer for a few
weeks at a time.
I used to sit in the closet and cry, because she played with
my other sister and not me.

Then she came to live with us when she was eighteen.
That is when I really came to know her.
That is when she found the Gospel and was baptized!

She has been my BEST FRIEND ever since,
her being my sister is an
added bonus.

She is a good, and sincere woman.
One of the most NON-Judgmental people
that I have ever met.
She is Article of Faith, #13

I am a young girl. I am sitting in the kitchen at my Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Sheer yellow curtains are gently dancing as the fan hums a comforting song. I sip on my glass of ice water while watching and listening to my Grandparents. They are canning vegetables. My Grandpa is in overalls of course, and he is sweet. When he talks to me he calls me “Sal”. He always has, there is love in a nickname.

I look at my Grandma. Her face is soft, her eyes are smiling. Her voice is like a song that flows all through me. They love me, they have never let me doubt it. I am grateful.

Last week my Grandma passed away, eleven years after my Grandpa.

I am sure my Grandpa called her “Doll” when they were reunited, he always called her “Doll”. There is love in a nickname.

I love you both, God be with you till we meet again.

We lost power...

The ice came down hard ALL DAY
and then into the night.

We lived by candlelight.

We put our beds in
the living room floor.

The girls went to sleep giggling
over the wacked out
shadow puppet show
that Daddy starred in.

It was freezing when we woke up.
We had homemade hot cocoa for
breakfast to warm up.

We played games,
and Daddy read
"The Education of Little Tree"
Out loud.

We kept layers of clothes on,
and snuggled under blankets.

Then the lights came back on
Hooray.

We cleaned house!
We did laundry!
Ok, only I was excited about that part.

Then, today...
The power went out again.

It may not be back on
until Saturday night.

We are at my Parents.

Mother Nature can be so
beautiful
Yet so fierce.

At church on Sunday, my seven year old and I were sitting near a baby.
He was a cutie.
She kept smiling at him, and whispering how cute he was.
I was glad she finally noticed babies, she has always been an
ALL animal girl. If you know her, you know what I'm talking about.
She interrupted that thought when she lean over and
whispered to me,

"Mom! I finally know how you can tell a girl baby, from a boy baby!"

Me, "(gulp)"

She continued, "It's their ears! Look at his ears, they are definitely boy ears"

Me, "That's right sweetie"

What a difference a day makes.

Yesterday, I had a house full of loud mouth girls.
Never-ending dirty cups.
Chairs and blankets made up into tents.
Crayons and paper scattered about.
Popcorn popping as if we had the very tree.

Computer addicts who were wearing
Sunday's church clothes on a Monday, and why not
it's the last day of VaCa.

Today there is silence.
Clean dishes, clean kitchen.
Dining room chairs in their rightful place.
A computer ALL to myself.

And a dancing four year old.

I don't know why she is dancing.

Perhaps it's because she has the the house and the Mom
all to herself.

Call me crazy
(go ahead)

I kind of miss them.

But don't tell anyone.

That would be weird.

We went to our favorite amusement park with Sam's youngest sister and her family.

Moved into our new home!

June~Camping with the family, and spending time at our favorite Amusement Park.
Sam's Brothers family came to visit from Oklahoma
Sam's Sisters family came to visit from California
My brother's family moved here from Florida
I turned 34 years old!

July~ 4th of July! Food, family, fireworks, parade.
Tragedy struck. Sam's oldest brother was hospitalized with sepsis from a tick bite.
Spent time in Tulsa, all of Sam's nine siblings were together.
He pulled through, but is still suffering.

August~ Girls went back to school
Sam went back to school
I discovered yearbookyourself.com

September~We received lots of rain from Hurricane Gustav
K-bop turned 9!

October~ The Storm turned 4!
Sam and I celebrated 12 years of marriage!
Sam turned 38!
B-bop turned 7!

November~G-bop turned 11!
Beautiful niece Kenzie was born
G-bop played Brutus in local Shakespearean festival.
I promised K-bop and NO ONE else a chicken dance.

December~ Have had a blog for two years.
Had a great Christmas
Enjoyed having my girls home from school

Say Wassail?

I've heard much ado about Wassail lately, and have never had the opportunity to try it.
Saturday we spent the day freezing HERE
That is where I spotted a real live Wassail stand...
with a long line of anxious Wassail drinkers.

I made a bee line for it, then shoved Sam into the line
to buy me a mug of it.
That is how I roll, judge me if you must

It smelled like candles
I've always wanted to eat a candle..
you know the ones that smell so
good they must have a few calories in them.

I did not eat the Wassail, because you just can't
I sipped it.

It reminded me at first of cough medicine.
Good quality cough medicine, you know.
I was cold, it was warm...so I tried some more.

It grew on me.
G-bop loved it
Sam really liked it
K-bop liked it
B-bop liked it
The Storm thought it was too hot.

Since my whole family wants more,
and I'm a giver
I've been searching high and low for a recipe.

This Christmas we will be adding Wassail to our celebrations

A Monkey and some German life lessons

Once upon a time I was a thirteen year old. It's true. I had a neighbor and a friend, do you see where this is going? Right.

Me and my friend were out riding bikes, my (old funny guy) neighbor and his wife had just arrived home when he jumped outta his car and approached us a bit excited. The following conversation went down,

Neighbor Bob: We need your help girls!

Girls: What, how?

Bob: Earlier this morning we came home with a new pet monkey, when we opened our front door it ran away into those trees.

Girls: How are we suppose to help?

Bob: Well, go over and see if you can spot him. If you do, bring him back to us and we'll give you a reward

Neighbor Bob's Wife: (rolls eyes and shakes head)

You don't really think we would fall for something so lame do you? Don't answer that.

Girls: Sure, OK, let's go.

We spent the better part of our Saturday looking for that darn Monkey

Why do I share this? I really don't know.

How about one more

Once upon a time I was a fourteen year old. I had a friend, our stake center was an hour away. Our youth group had A LOT of travel time together getting to our Saturday activities. Do you see where this is going. Right.

A new family had recently moved into the ward, on this Saturday we were riding in the same van with two of the young men from this new family. Pardon my mad grammar please, and keep reading...

New YM: Our older brother lived in Germany, and has taught us a lot of the language

Friend and I: Really, how cool is that

New YM: We could teach you some words

Friend and I: (heads bobbing up and down) Sure, yeah, that'd be great

New YM proceeded to teach us many sentences in German, and even how to make that rough sound from our throats.

Friend and I were SO in the cool club now. We had made friends with the new YM, and could now say a few things in German.

Several weeks later we were talking to New YM's Dad:

Friend and I: Your YM are so fun, we are really glad you all moved here

YM's Dad: Well, Thanks!

Friend and I: They even taught us to speak a little German

YM's Dad: (Head tilting) They did?

Friend and I: Yes. (I'd like to say we did not try out our German on him, but I think we did)

YM's Dad: My YM do not know a single word in German! They were messing with you two

Over a decade later I now know it HAD to belong to large werewolves that were protecting the locals from vampires. It's that Twilight education.

I love the Christmas season. Now that it is December I just want to wrap all things related to Christmas around me like a blanket, and enjoy every moment of it.

We have a tradition of having a little tree trimming party soon after Thanksgiving. We often invite friends or family over to ~~do our work~~ help us decorate our tree. We then turn every light in the house off, turn the Christmas lights on and sing Carols.

This year it was just our family. I made homemade hot chocolate...yum.

There was a little magic the morning after our party, it snowed! That somehow made if feel official that Santa's on his way.

Are you giddy about Christmas? Or is it just me;)

Oh, and just incase you're wondering, this post is most certainly an effort to get away from the whole chicken/video/are you going to post it/no I will not subject
